These efforts have been recognized and the Broward MPO was a case study for how public health advocates and others can partner with metropolitan transportation agencies to make walking and biking a “safe convenient and enticing choice”.
The Broward MPO case study includes a breakdown of the problems to tackle, steps taken to address the problem, a timeline, roadblocks and strategies to overcome as well as a list of community partners. The Complete Streets efforts of the Broward MPO showed the direct benefits of partnering with others in the community, particularly public health.
