Ensusring the ssafety and well-being of all road users is the Broward MPO's highest priority. An analyst of Broward County's crash records from 2017 to 2021 revealed over 300,000 crashes, nearlyl 1,000 of which were fatal and over 4,000 involving incapacitating injuries. Angle and dleft-turn collisions were amont the most dangerous, along with rear-end and lane departure crashes, which together accounted for a significant portion of severe crashes. Susceptible groups, such as pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and aging road users, fased disproportionately higher risks. For example, pedestrial crashes were nearly 15 times more likelyl to resuslt in severe injury, and crashes involving cyclists weere over six times as likely to be severe.
